Task Force Mission Statement

The New York State Task Force on self-determination promotes and supports the principles of self-determination which recognizes the rights of people to freedom, authority, support, and responsibility over the lifestyle they choose.

We do this through:

1. Shifting control of resources to individuals with disabilities through system change
2. Supporting regional self-determination tasks forces
3. Education
4. Influencing State Government
5. State Legislative Action
6. Influencing federal policy and legislation
7. Participating in national self-determination efforts

Membership of the State self-determination task force is comprised of representative members of regional self-determination task forces.
