We are looking forward to seeing everyone this coming Thursday, September 6th at the Statewide Self Advocacy conference! Here are some things to know:

  • Registration starts at 1pm Thursday. There will be mini sessions starting at 2pm up until dinner. Do some meditation, boogie down with Foxy Trot dance, do some Yoga with Cathy Holmes, hear a live concert of songs of self advocacy with Steve Holmes and friends, or attend the LGBTQ Meet and Greet open to all!

  • Hotel rooms are generally ready after 3pm. If your room is not ready when you arrive, you can have the hotel hold your luggage for you and go check out the activities.

  • The theme for the dance on Friday night is “Sharing Our Diversity – The Many Cultures of America – Show Your Pride”. Dress up in something that shows your diversity, your culture, or your pride!

  • During breakfast on Friday morning, we will have a Membership Meeting – the SANYS Board will present what SANYS is up to and give everyone a chance to ask questions. Come prepared to ask a question, if you like. Breakfast on Friday starts at 7am and the Membership meeting will start at 8am.

  • In addition to all of the other awesome Focus Groups on Friday morning, there will be a “Share Your Talent”Focus Group. We have a lot of people signed up for a 5 minute slot, but there may be a couple of spots left if you have a talent you would like to share.

  • There will be some small sessions on Friday for up to 10 people to sit with the Alberti Center for Bullying Prevention and give feedback on their new Anti- Bullying website for people with disabilities. If you have been bullied and tried to look for help on the internet, this might be a good session to sign up for.

  • For those who need roll in showers and do not have one in your room, there will be a shared roll in shower bathroom available. Sign up with Dan Flanigan when you get to the conference.

  • Travel safely! See you in Albany!
