Please join the NYC-Westchester Region on May 26th to honor the memory of our friend Judy Moiseff

As we recently shared, Judy Moiseff, a longtime friend of SANYS and an incredibly powerful self-advocate, has passed away.

Judy served as a SANYS Americorps volunteer for two years and went on to volunteer with SANYS for many years after that. Judy was a Willowbrook survivor who was proud to live in her own apartment. She represented our organization over the years while giving numerous speeches and presentations on so many important topics, including independent living, accessible transportation, medical advocacy, communication, and relationships and sexuality. Judy was a past recipient of the “Self-Advocate of the Year” award at our statewide conference, and was also a close friend of self-advocates everywhere.

Judy was known and will be remembered by almost all of the self-advocates across NYC and many around the state. Her passing leaves a gaping hole in the heart of the self-advocacy movement, and we will miss her very, very much.

The New York City-Westchester Region of SANYS will be hosting a memorial Zoom meeting for all who knew Judy to share memories of her on Tuesday May 26th from 7:00pm-8:30pm.

We will be showing a slideshow of pictures and video of Judy. If you have pictures to share, please send them to eyankey@sanys.org to have them included in the slideshow.

We will use the time to share stories and memories of this wonderful woman.
