As citizens of the United States we enjoy the same rights as all other citizens. However, while the rights are the same for all citizens, we as persons with developmental disabilities often face barriers and forms of discrimination that others do not face.

At SANYS, we work to promote the awareness, understanding and exercise of fundamental rights. We specifically work to help people with developmental disabilities understand the unique ways that their rights may be challenged.  Toward that end, we offer training and our self-advocacy groups promote group-dialogue and peer-support around the important issue of individual rights.
