Welcome Arnold!

The Board of the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS) has chosen Arnold Ackerley as SANYS’ new Administrative Director.  Arnold started his career in human services 17 years ago, as a Direct Support Professional.  Since that time, he has performed several professional roles.  At various times, he has served as Shift Supervisor, Operations/Program Coordinator, QIDP, Quality Assurance Associate, Director of QIDP and is currently the Director of Admissions and Development at New Hope Community Inc. in Loch Sheldrake, NY. Additionally, his experiences acting as chair of incident review, human rights and informed consent committees, as well as serving as a certified CQL POM trainer and facilitator to a self-advocacy group, have allowed him to develop a diverse set of skills and perspectives that will serve him well in his new role of Administrative Director at SANYS.  Arnold graduated from Marist College with a BA in Integrative Studies in 2003 and is currently a graduate student within their communications program. Arnold has a passion for people and enjoys nothing more than promoting the success of others, whether they be self-advocates or the staff members that support them.  He is humbled by the opportunity to serve at SANYS and looks forward to working together with each of you to promote its ongoing success.
