| What do we do at SANYS? Here's a great example! Recently in SANYS' Capital Region, a Meet & Greet was held in Saratoga, NY for self-advocates to come out and learn about self-advocacy and the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State. Chester Finn and Cynthia Gilchrist talked to a group of 30 self-advocates and staff at the Saratoga Developmental Disabilities State Operations Office on March 4th. One of the self-advocates from the Capital Region, Francis Davis, had contacted SANYS about starting a self-advocacy group.The event was truly enjoyed by all who attended and people wanted to know when the next meeting would be held! The next has now been scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th from 6PM - 7:30PM at the Saratoga Developmental Disabilities State Operations Office at 3 Care Lane in Saratoga, New York. We hope that other self-advocates from the area will join us for our first official self-advocacy group meeting! |
