 The Self Advocacy Association is looking for a logo for its 2014 Statewide Conference!

SANYS' Statewide Conference draws nearly 1000 people with developmental disabilities, along with their supporters, from all across New York State!

We are looking for an image/logo that would reflect our conference theme:

"Transforming the System: Reinvesting in US!"

For example: what does the future for services look like? What would it mean if the government reinvested more dollars in services that support people with disabilities to live richer lives? What would your world look like if this happened? What kind of choices would you make in your daily life?

Self-Advocate Artists can make the logo design through painting or drawing (color submissions only, no digital artwork or photography). Please take a picture of your artwork and e-mail the photo in a jpeg format (highest resolution possible) to:

Artwork must be received no later than AUGUST 29TH, 2014

Make sure that you include your name, telephone number and address and a brief description of your ideas for the piece and how you made it. If you need help to submit your logo design, please contact your local SANYS Region.

A prize of $250 will be awarded to the artist whose logo is chosen.

Artwork selected will be showcased at the statewide conference and used in promotions for the event.

Please note family members of SANYS staff, board members and employees of The Self-Advocacy Association of NYS are not eligible to enter the logo contest.

The theme of our Conference this year...

"Transforming the System: Reinvesting in US"

is meant to focus our attention on the fact that many positive changes are planned - more individualized services and more opportunity - but these changes will only be successful if there is a reinvestment of funds in our system and practical, person-centered solutions are implemented. This is a very important time for our voices to be heard! We all need to...SPEAK UP!!! For those of you who haven't yet attended our Self-Advocacy Conferences, it's a truly rewarding experience!
    • A great opportunity for networking and learning!
    • Meet hundreds of self-advocates, their family members and other supporters from across New York State
    • Learn about important advocacy issues that affect us all!
    • Join our workshops and focus groups and hear some great keynote addresses
    • Test your dance skills on Thursday and Friday nights (bring your costume - it's Halloween!)
    • Regional Breakfasts on Saturday morning
