Self-Advocacy: Stepping Up, Never Stepping Back
This year’s conference theme is about looking ahead and making a better future through self-advocacy. Self-Advocates have been speaking truth to power for decades and have worked hard to make better opportunities for themselves and others. However, we should never forget that we still have a long way to go. By “Speaking up for ourselves and others” we can keep the self-advocacy movement going forward.
As attendance for our State Conference has grown, we have had to limit the number of registration options to either the Full Conference or All Day Friday. This will allow us to provide a more meaningful conference experience for as many guests as practical.
FULL CONFERENCE: $185.00
Enjoy the whole conference experience of learning and networking, good food, and fun. This includes registration for all conference activities and meals for the three days.
ALL DAY FRIDAY $125.00
Workshops & Focus Groups, Lunch and Evening Banquet.
How to Register
All Registration forms are to be mailed to SANYS along with payment. There will be no online registration this year. Any registration forms received without payment will not be accepted.
There are two ways to register: as a group or as a single person.
For Groups: If you are a person or organization registering and paying for a group of self-advocates to attend. We ask that you use our group registration form which can be downloaded and printed here.
For Single Registrants: If you are person registering and paying for yourself, the single registration form can be be downloaded and printed here.
Group Registration
General guidance on completing form
If you are registering a group, please open and print the “Group Registration Form” below.
Please complete the entire form.
It is important that we have the name and contact information for the person who will be coordinating registration and attendance. Please fill this out under “Registration Contact” on the form.
Often the Registration Contact person is not the person responsible for payment. Please be sure to include the name and contact information for the person responsible for payment on the registration form under “Billing Information”. If you are with a provider organization, this usually a person working in your finance office.
Please do not submit a registration form unless payment is attached (Please see How to Pay Below).
You may need to print additional pages of the registration form to accommodate the number of people you are registering

Single Registration

Please complete the entire form.
Sometimes someone other than the person attending the conference is helping coordinate registration and attendance. If this is so, please fill in the section “Who should we conact regarding this registration” on the registration form.
Often the person completing the registration form is not the person responsible for payment. Please be sure to include the name and contact information for the person responsible for payment on the registration form under “Billing Information”. If a provider organization is paying for your registration then this is usually a person working in your finance office.

Conference Scholarships
Description
There will be a limited number of scholarships available in each region for people who require financial assistance to attend the conference. Please contact your SANYS regional office if you would like to be considered for a scholarship.
Please remember that there are a limited number of scholarships. So please only seek a scholarship if you really need financial assistance.

2019 “LOGO Contest”
Description
Attention All Self-Advocate Artists and Friends
The Self-Advocacy Association needs your help to create a logo for the 2019 Statewide Conference!
Our annual conference draws nearly 850 people with developmental disabilities and their supporters from across the state, who come together to inspire each other, learn, and advocate on a statewide level. This year’s theme is about looking towards the future and never towards the past.
“Self-Advocacy: Stepping Up, Never Stepping Back!”
Help SANYS convey this powerful message by submitting your artwork to our annual logo contest!
Some helpful ideas include (but are not limited to) creating messages, statements, paintings, drawings and/or other creative artwork representing this year’s theme. Try asking yourself the following:
- In what ways do self-advocates drive the self-advocacy movement together as one united voice?
- What are examples of how self-advocates lead their self-advocacy groups and initiatives?
- How do self-advocates share ideas and educate one-another about self-advocacy?
- What are some ways that self-advocates work together with other self-advocates to make real community changes?
- Make sure to include your name, phone number, email address, and a few sentences about you and how you created the logo
- Absolutely no entries can be accepted after July 26, 2019!
- A prize of $250 will be awarded to the artist whose logo is chosen
- Artwork selected will be showcased at the statewide conference
